You gonna be okay?

Heck of an ending, wasn't it?

Those wouldn't be my exact words regarding the ending.

The sun came up this morning. About all I can say.

Glad you're doing okay. I know how you Ohio State guys can be after a tough loss.

TRUE STORY: Several years ago (2004ish) I had an Air National Guard buddy who was an Ohio State grad and a die-had Buckeye. When I say die hard, the guy lived in Buffalo NY, but had season tickets and would drive all the way to Columbus for every home game. Mr. Buckeye was a pretty good guy, but he wore a really bad toupee. I mean really, really bad -- color wasn't even close to his real hair, but he was under the impression that nobody knew. It was an inside joke at the squadron. Anyway, one fall drill weekend we're all sitting around watching college football and drinking beer; Ohio State is having a rough day with another Big-10 team -- somebody that wasn't supposed to be good, Northwestern I think. The more OSU stinks it up, the madder Mr Buckeye gets, ranting and raving with the rug sliding all over his head. Finally, the Buckeyes get it together, mount a comeback, only to lose on the last play of the game (missed FG I think). My buddy comes unglued: he jumps up, dropping multiple F-bombs with artistic talent, and, in his best Steve Spurrier imitation, rips the toupee off his head and throws it on the floor. The rest of us lose it -- literally rolling on the floor. Mr. Buckeye, realizing what he has done, immediately regains his composure, grabs the rug, and calmly walks out of the room. He comes back a couple of minutes later, toupee perfectly in place, and acts like nothing happened. To our credit, the rest of kept straight faces and didn't mention a thing.

So, when I say I worry about OSU fans flipping their lids after a loss, I mean it literally. :rotf:

Believe it or not, even the University of Alabama has its share of lunatic fans. After all "fan" is the short form of "fanatic".

Come to think of it, wasn't it an Alabama fan that poisoned those trees at Auburn, thus creating the term Updike Nation in reference to Crimson Tide fans?

Oh, I'd have to say more than it's fair share -- it goes with the territory.

Of course, that wasn't the point of my post; I was just trying to throw a little levity at the situation. My buddy passed away a couple of years ago, but whenever I think of hard core Ohio State fans that story comes to mind and gives me a chuckle. I'm sure he appreciates it.

Yep, that's why I don't refer to myself as a fan. I prefer the term supporter. Wait a minute, does that mean I'm an athletic supporter? Maybe gonna have to rethink that one.

I know. I think we all got a chuckle from your story. Wish there were fewer "fans" and more "athletic supporters" for all teams. :D
