If I should be disappointed or if I just got there late or wasn't in a good position.
I didn't hear any birds. Well I heard crows and dogs barking.

Try again tomorrow.

I did get there a little late I think and I will go to a different location in the morning.

Oh I did ask my guide if we had birds cause i didn't hear any. He assured me we got birds. I will trust in him.

Still could be a LITTLE early for alot of gobbling.
Cold temps plus I don't know what the barameter was doing this morning.
Probably don't mean much really, not hearing any I mean.

OH and you got birds, there is no doubt about that.

Give 'em a week with the warmer temps, and they should be hammering by next weekend.

No gobbles this morning but I did see a big flock. I think they are just about to get started here. Did see strutting and heard them gobble two weeks ago. I am ready for juvenile. I hope my son can get his first.

I wouldn't even waste time worrying about it yet, but that is just me. It was awfully cold in this part of the state this morning, and awfully early to be down over not hearing anything this morning as well.

Come on Doug
The warm temp has nothing to do with it

It doesn't, but the weather patterns stabilizing and not being so freaking cold will move them from being in survival mode, which is where they have been for a long time. The weather does not set the breeding clock. According to you alls logic in 2005 when we had an entire month (Jan) of 60-70 degree highs the birds would have been breeding, and by the time the season opened hens would have been raising poults. We all know that wasn't the case.

Same thing for me on the farm I hunt on in Williamson Co. I went this am and didn't hear a bird. Have hardly saw any scratchings or sign, where they are usually dusting, there is nothing, but right down the road I saw a flock of 20 long beards and another flock probably 1/4 mile away that had 85 hens and ten strutters. When they start busting up, I'll be in good shape. But they aren't on the place yet.

Turkeys won't start dusting until it warms up and the bugs come out in full force.

Ok. That makes sense.

Best morning I had last year it was in 20s at daylight and the ground didn't begin to thaw out until about noon, but it was calm and clear weather and best hunt I ever had it was spittin' snow. In my experince always done alot better on cold mornings and day warming into 60 degree range.
