JayMc, NateUK, and myself had a great time at the Old Hickory 3D today. The wind was blowing pretty hard, but all in all it was a great time. The hosts were great people, the food was good, and the fire was warm. Also, this was my first 3D and will be going to as many as I can. Thanks guys for a good time and here are some pics.

Let's do it again soon!

I had fun. We'll have to do it again. Hopefully the next time will be just a little bit warmer with less wind.

We had 118 at the January shoot, there weren't as many for this one. I would guess 80 to 90.

Ya thats what my buddy at the local bow shop told me I figure they are...whats the advantage Jaymac....Bigger shaft covers the 12 ring idk????

I would never shoot Fatboys for hunting b/c they are too weak walled and light. The advantage for 3D is the larger diameter, lower weight with good spine/straightness tolerances.

I like shooting 63-64lbs for 3D. With the Fatboys I can build a 320gr arrow with good FOC and spine that flies well. That's what I'm more worried about than the line cutting ability.

The disadvantage is that b/c they are larger diameter the wind can really push them. I was shooting in high winds at my house the other day and the wind was pushing the Fatboys over 2 feet at 75yds.

Wow thats a incredible disadvan.

I would never use em for hunting I was jus wondering and the reason I said didnt know ppl use em anymore is I never see em at thte bow shop??

Was it wind drift or arm drift ? :D

I just got back into 3Ds myself and found out how much I missed them.

I do gotta give you a hard time though...AN UMBRELLA TO BLOCK THE WIND?!! Come on now. LOL. We shot in the steady down pour last Saturday at Benton shooters without umbrellas :) 60 something shooters still showed up. I shot miserable @ 8 down and still landed in 2nd but I know I knocked myself out of contention when I shot for a 12 and was an 8th an inch out of it. That woulda tied me up had I hit it.

I'm shooting Beman 9.3s...same thing as your FatBoys. They are just .006 grade vs the .003s of the FatBoys. They use the same components and everything. Mine weigh around 312 grains and I know what you mean about the wind blowing them all over the place. I got mine listed on ArcheryTalk right now. Hoping to replace them with some heavier arrows of similar diameter. Looking at the Victory Arrows or CXL 250s.
