Started not to go this am as it was cool and a bit windy but was already up so wth. This tom started gobbling about daylight and continued after he flew down for awhile then shut down. I moved close to where I last heard him and got set up. Before I called he started gobbling again about 50 yds away and seemed to be moving toward me a bit so I just waited. He gobbled several more times in the same place over a 15 min period and then I made a soft yelp or two and a purr and put the call down. He gobbled once more and within 5 minutes he stuck his head up about 25 yards away and saw me immediately, started putting but the Benelli let a load of 5s go before he could split. The 3" Longbeard put him down immediately despite having only top half of his neck/head visible. Tale of the tape: 24.8#(heaviest one I ever killed)-9 1/4" beard-1 3/8" spurs-Win LB 3" #5s Benelli M2 21" barrel
