Several years ago my brother's fiancee was working for a local playhouse/acting company (read, "lots of liberal types") when they performed a reimagined, stage version of Bambi. She and my wife took my two-year-old son to see the show.
In the scene when Bambi's mother is killed (spoiler alert!
), a guy wearing camos and an orange vest and hat tromped on and off stage carrying a toy rifle. My two-year-old immediately starts calling, "Daddy, daddy, where daddy go?" and trying to get my wife to let him run down front.
