Why does it matter if they did, the top 4 teams still made it(even though I think Miss St. could beat the other 3 besides bama) so I have no problem with it, of course if Bama and Florida St. lose in their conference title games it all changes.

There are still conference championships to be played and I don't necessarily think this will be the same 4 next week. Think at least one will be upset.

Why don't they just have the conference winners play a playoff to determine the championship?

All of these rankings prior to the final one are meaningless from a practical standpoint.
All they are for is to give ESPN and the other media outlets something to talk about.

It appears they "think" FSU has the greatest chance of losing this weekend. Dropping them to 4 makes it easier to replace them with OSU if that occurs.
Had they remained at 3 or higher, there might have been a debate as to whether FSU should still stay in the top 4. It seems pretty obvious that the committee doesn't think very highly of them. I mean, they should have lost to Notre Dame

Yup said for weeks! One little loss would knock FSU outta top 4 probley top 5. Thats the downside to playing a cupcake schedule.
