Due to a forest fire a few months ago every bit of one of my farms was burnt up. Walked it today for the first time and didn't even see a squirrel, let alone any sign of turkeys.. I guess my only hope is when things start greening back up the turkeys will be in there feeding on the new growth

I've had some good turkey hunts in woods that were recently burned, both in TN and in MO. Turkeys eat the new growth of forbs and grasses, as do many insects, which offers turkeys even more feeding options. I'd be back in there come season to see what it has to offer. You may be surprised.

killed my first turkey ever in a field that was burned and starting to green up again. now it's just CRP, last I saw. Would be nice if they burned those fields again.

If you don't want to hunt it let me know, nothing better than a burned piece of ground other than a corn pile.

Buy some Mossy Oak New Break Up, it will help blend in if the fire got up the base of the trees much, and go to work.

We are burning everywhere we hunt in the SE right now, getting ready for March.

Oh I'll definitely be hunting it, just hope they are there before things get pretty green, because some of the guys that hunt the place sure are good at educating those birds.. Because that place doesnt start greening until the 2nd or 3rd weekend of the season.
