One & Only BBQ? (memphis area)

My daughter drives by the place on G-town road going to work. Daughter says it can't be very good BBQ, not a pickup truck parked in the lot.

A new one just opened right across the Street from the office. Is it worth trying?

No. I've never been more disappointed than the $65 I spent to feed the TAFKAP family recently. Ribs were not smoked. If they were, I wasn't convinced. Pulled pork was OK. Price/value was horrible. $26 for a slab of ribs & 2 sides? Uhhh no.

We won't be back.

It was hyped so well right before it opened. I never met anyone that said otherwise. Then when we mentioned how we didn't like it, everyone else agreed.

There's not a single wisp of smoke to be seen from the building.

It's my favorite BBQ place in Memphis. Their menu has a good variety and their service is super. Someone said their ribs aren't smoked. So what, they are delicious.

They're not smoked. The ones we had were the opposite of delicious, in fact. They were overpriced, poorly cooked, and not smoked. For future rib needs, we will go elsewhere where they charge less, smoke the ribs, and they taste like BBQ.

Their menu is neck and neck with Central. Central's ribs are better, Central's shoulder is better, Central's nachos are better, and Central's prices are better. Plus, they smoke their meat. It's difficult to justify a BBQ restaurant that doesn't smoke their meat. Their sign says BBQ, but it should say "oven roasted pork" that may or may not taste good.

Come see us we smoke our bbq every night as you sleep.

listen ..........God is talking he said use jackstands......

What's really odd is that I heard a radio commercial for them today and they specifically said in the commercial that they smoke their meat for hours. I guess pouring in liquid smoke is now considered "smoking"

I have no idea....the ribs didn't have any indication of a smoke ring, they didn't taste smoky, and I've never seen a wisp of smoke coming from any building. Furthermore, the ribs tasted "fatty"....you know, the taste of when a meat is chilled and stored, to be reheated later?

I ate there recently. Can't even remember what I had, but I've had worse in Memphis. But I did order a couple of chicken drummies, as you can order as many pieces as you wish. For some reason I was expecting wing drummies, but these were leg drummies. They had a pretty good smokey flavor. Don't know how they were cooked, but I"'d give them a thumbs up.
