How does everyone feel about opening day being moved to the first week of April? Did I read the regs correctly?

If I did I am not a fan!!!!!!

Just means I won't be able to hunt that weekend due to church.

Guess the season will start a week late for me.

I personally would like to see the permanent opening day in West Tennessee set for the third Saturday in March. That would have been the 20th this year, and would always fall within the 15th-21st range, I think. But as long as we still get the same number of days to hunt, I don't think it really matters all that much.

I'm very pleased, as it will mean that many more hens will have been bred before season opens, instead of having gobblers removed before they've done any breeding.

BTW, season wasn't moved this year... it's set to open 'Saturday closest to April 1'... it was moved last year a week early for some unexplained reason.

The sooner it can get here, the better. I like how it opened earlier last year. The birds worked well for me earlier last year.

I wish it opened in february. LOL
I wish it was open now saw about 75 mostly hens this afternoon on the way to work in a feild then about 200 yrds down the road in the woods about 10 more longbeards.

The opening is fine with me, although I think that the later the better(up to a point), as far as weather is concerned, as in still and WARM! Last year opening day was cloudy and cold with a Northwest wind about 25 mph. After freezing for about an hour, I spent the balance of the morning asleep in the warm car, waiting for my son to come out of the woods.

i like it earlier than later!! earlier has just been better for me and i like to hunt before the spring green up.
