Opening Morning

Organic meat for the freezer in the form of a doe. First time to ever harvest one on opening day.

No. Pretty rough for the kids. No corn cut. Was hoping there'd at least be some bushhogged lanes.
Had my daughter up at Yuchi as well. Wind keeps swirling. Had deer on us at daybreak but wind shifted and we got busted. Still haven't heard the number of shots that I expected, but we're up in the ridges and can't hear everything. Seems that most people are bunched up next to the Ranger Station

Nice going! Nothing like a good head start!
Thanks yeah it's nice to no longer have that 1st of the season pressure on me. It's a self induced pressure but feels good. It's like catching that first fish when on the lake.
Hopefully we can hear others having some success today as well.

Saw 2 does and 5 turkeys, all 180-200 yards away across 2 bean fields. Went and loaded a truck load of firewood at a buddy's house where he had some oak limbs dropped to use for duck blind brush. Now I'm in ht recliner. Gotta let that load season a little before I do much with it, I'm beat.

Congrats, that's what im looking for freezer meat. I feel ya I put pressure on myself also. I hate to spend the money on licensing and go empty handed.
