I got my Son, almost 11, and my Daughter 9, both a Mathew Craze for Christmas. They have everything on them, peep sight, kisser button, and string loope, whisker bisquit, fiber optic sights, ect. We are going to shoot them tomorrow, if the weather aint to bad. I am starting them out shooting a release. I feel starting them out with the same set up most everyone else has for hunting will teach them the true way to shoot a bow. Any opinions ?

I dont see any problems starting them out with a set up like everyone else shoots. I started my son shooting fingers about a year ago and after about 20 minutes he refused to shoot unless he had a trigger like daddy. So I rigged one of my back up releases and he hasnt stopped shooting since. Cudos to all moms and dads who get there kids interested in this great sport of archery.

You got those lucky kids a perfect setup. My only opinion is be patient. Its hard sometimes but start slow. Let them shoot at 5 yards if they have to just get them comfortable with their form and hitting the bullseye close before you throw them back away from the target. Good luck.

When i started my son out i was told to start them out with out a peep so they could get used to the bow and shooting it and not having so many things to have to do when they are new of course yours are a little older i started mine at 7. But the main thing is patience and make it fun.

got everything all set and tweeked on thier bows today. Weather was bad, so they were able to shoot a few short rounds at the Bow shop. They seemed to pick up the kisser button in the corner of thier mouth pretty good, and also looking thru the peep sight. I think they will do good in time !
