I am trying to get a picture of optimum draw weight in relation to the rating of the limbs, i.e. if your shooting 60-70# limbs, at what draw weight does your bow shoot best. I've heard that bows perform best maxed out, but alot of people shoot in the mid 60s# range, thus they are not maxed out on 70# limbs.

The efficiency of newer bows are not as dependant upon being near the to of the specified range as bows manufactured many years ago.

I will second the thought of shooting at the weight that best fits you. That optimum is much more important than a performance optimum for a bow.

I guess I could have started a thread asking what are your bow limbs rated for and what are you drawing. There was a large thread about draw weight, but would be nice to know what limbs.

I have 70# limbs and drawing 70 usually. It is at 62 right now for 3d.

I like holding more weight, keeps me steady.

I can about draw my bow with 2 fingers though.

Although that doesnt mater, soothes the ego. :D

My limbs are rated for #70 and I shoot #67 and it is still pretty quiet and easy to hold steady. It's a fine balance of what feels good to you, how steady you can hold it at full draw, how long you can hold it at full draw and how quiet it is. The rest is shot placement. If you can do all the above at #70 but you don't have consistent shot placement back off #1 at a time and see where it puts you. This is how I got to #67 on my rig. Limbs also play into the equation. My bow is a Parker EZ draw 33 with 80% let off.

Everyone and bow will have a different results.

Thanks, I will see where it ends up in a few months.
