Osceola turkey hunt?

My dad and I went last spring. We used Swamp Gobbler Outfitters, and had an awesome time. Both of us killed on the first day. Pricey hunt, but just about all the osceola hunts are high unless you go to public land. Let me know if you want some info.

I didn't do any good, didn't hear a bird, didn't see a bird, didn't see signs of a bird. I saw one group of hunters on a swamp buggy one morning. I walked 32 miles in 4 mornings without any luck. I was way down south by Ochopee, next time I think I'll go further north. I chose further south because the wife went with me and wanted to be close to the beach at Marco island. It was a great trip just to see the Everglades, just no luck for me hunting. It's just not in the budget for me this year with the TN license stuff going on, I'm going to need to spend my fun money on a lifetime.

Well that doesnt speak well for that area. Glad you were still able to enjoy the trip though, I have never seen the glades but want to.

Any of you guys who hunted Florida get a guide named Adrian Hare? he's a good bud of mine he helped me call in my 1st long beard.

I'm from South/Central Florida and make the trip down for opening weekend in the South zone every year(March 7). I hunt the Big Cypress WMA. This year, I will head down a second time to hunt the opener in the central zone(March 21). I will be hunting Three Lakes WMA. I will be there for first 10 ten days. Although this ground receives very heavy pressure, I have (local) knowledge of this area from hunting it all my life. I can't say you will kill one, but I will say that I will put you on some. Be willing to let any "serious" turkey hunters tag along and experience an Osceola hunt free of charge. Although there are hotels at Yeehaw Junction, I will be camping at the 441 entrance campground(Williams Road)

You would have a tough time finding a private land osceola hunt for a grand. Where we hunted: 3 days, one bird, all the hogs you wanted to shoot, food and lodging included, $1800. That doesn't include your license.

Did you kill any hogs?

Hunted Three Lakes many times. Most important item besides your call and gun is mosquito spray, lol. They will literally pick you up and tote you off down there. Has Yeehaw Junction changed any? Been about 15 years since I been thru there.

there are no hotels modern or othewise in Yeehaw Junction, just a couple of gas stations.. Desert Inn is there but sometimes it is open sometimes not. If you need a hotel Vero Beach is the closest. 4 or 5 of them at the interesection of I95 and SR 60. Probably a 45 min drive to 3 lakes. If you can hunt there during the week its not so bad but 3 lakes can get crazy on the weekends. Expect to get walked on especially if a bird is gobbling anywhere nearby. Another public non quota area near there is Bull Creek. Very crowded in there as well but more birds than 3 lakes.
There are still some quota permits available every week for some areas. Go on the MYFWC website and check. There were permits there this week for some very good areas.
I will be going back to Big Cypress again this year, i lived in south Florida for 53 years, with very high expectations of killing a bird or two. It is a tough area to hunt without some type of ORV.
