I've often heard from several Mathews folks I know that the best Mathews they ever owned was the Outback. It was extremely quiet and plenty fast. Most have said their XT's were faster but not near as smooth or quiet, or so it seemed to them. Others have said the XT was probably the best all around bow ever built and that Mathews has took steps back since then. I know several that buy the new model every year and get rid of it.

I'm thinking of buying one of these two bows. Plenty are available used. I got a friend asking about my Parker and if he is willing to pay what I want for it, it's gone. He must want it bad.

Any of you owned both of the Outback and Switchback XT and what is your opinions on both.

stik really likes his Outback. Is there any way you can shoot both and compare? That is the only true way to tell. Shoot both with your eyes closed and just feel the shot.

i couldn't tell much difference in the outback vs. the switchback. if i were looking for a new hunting bow, i would be looking for a DXT.

I have an Outback for sell fully loaded. The Outback was my first bow and I really enjoyed shooting it. I got a Z7 a few weeks ago and it is very smooth. Of course they arent giving those away.

Try this on...

I own several Mathews Bows and my favorite to hunt with is still my FX..funny right, I'm serious...small fast compact...
XT and switchback are good bows but I still take my old FX...

I do have my eye on the Z7, and have shot it...try one...

I killed a crapload of deer with my old FX too. It was a nice bow ,but I hated the draw cycle.

Radar, I guess I'm old school...or hard headed...Once I get a bow perfect or just right its hard for me to change...I've taken a lot of deer with that bow...Habit, to pick up my old bow...Old fateful.

i'm still hunting with my old zmax that predates the FX by a couple of years. i love the outback for 3D and dots and i'm sure it would make a fine hunting rig but that zmax is a killing machine.

I have owned 5 different Mathews in as many years, and the DXT is the best overall by far in my opinion.I like the switchback XT better than the outback. The DXT has the smoothest draw cycle of any Mathews and just fits like a glove in my hand!

You said the magic words:
It has to fit like a glove....

The Switchback XT is absolutely the best bow I ever shot~~Plenty fast enough and smooth~~For me,it goes down to the best bow I ever owned~~
My question for any Mathews owners out there~~I have'nt had the chance to shoot any of Mathews new bows~~ not just this year's products but anything that has come out in the last two years.
What in your opinion~compares to,or is better than the Switchback~~I'd appreciate some feedback on this matter. My next bow will be something by Mathews~even the Mission lineup looks good.

I've never owned an xt or switchback and i know you didn't mention DXT but my 2008 is the best hunting bow i have ever owned and i buy new bows every year.No bow can be any smoother or quiter, maybe just as smooth and quit but no better than DXT.Its short, light weight and groups at 60 yards like a tournament bow.Try one if you get a chance, you'll like it.

i wish i had bought the DXT at EWA when i shot it. i love my outback though it has never been in the woods. the zmax is a killing machine. those are the 3 bows that made me go "WOW" when i shot them. bought the zmax and outback.

As a true Mathews shooter and owner, why don't you try the whole line first: Z7, Monster 7.0, Reezen just to name a few of the newer bows... not that the DXT is a bad bow at all. I'm sure there is one that will stand out...

Keep looking and go online to Matthews and see where the nearest dealer is...it's worth the time and effort...it's a large investment as well.
