Owl killed

I missed a bird at 651 and while doing a grid search just to be sure came across this headless hen. Looked like an owl got her the last day or so

Yep looks like an owl.... I'd say she was killed just hours before you found her.

Oops yeah I can see how the thread title can be misleading. Yes they can and do attack them on the roost. Talon through the head ends it pretty quick

The other critter that will eat the heads off fowl and drink their blood is a skunk. Had one tear into a chicken coop one night and behead 10 adult birds, leaving the rest of the entire carcass. (NOT saying a skunk climbed up and killed this hen off the roost )

Possums will sometimes get into my chickens and eat the head only. I don't think an owl killed the hen.
