Paper Tuning Rack

Per a conversation with UTGrad, here is a simple paper tuning rack that can be built in minutes and done for around $15 and it can easily be broken down out of the way or hidden from the wife. :) This can be useful and will let you know if you need to seek help, if you don't know how, in getting your rig straightened out. I just take the legs off mine and store the frame behind the fridge and the legs back there by the pile of fishing poles. ;)

2- 10ft sections of 1/2" pvc pipe
2- 1/2" 90 degree slip fittings
8- 1/2" T flip fittings
1- Roll of 12" construction paper (lowes has this for around $4)
2- clamps to hold paper tight against the rack

Cut the top and mid cross sections at 13"
Cut the sides of the top section at 19"
Cut the two legs at 48"
Cut 4 sections at 8" that will be the feet

The only thing that is missing is the 4 "T" fittings that go on that go on the end of the "feet"
Do not glue any of this together, except for maybe the "T"'s that go on the end of the feet (they are missing due to my 4 year old :) )

 
I built this one 3 or 4 years ago out of 1" PVC. Works great.







I built it to use cheap wrapping paper for shooting through. I would like to increase the tension on the paper some. That may come sometime this summer.

That looks good as well. Is switching to the roll paper a possibility? If so, you can wedge a nail or something between the roll and the pvc and then use clamps to hold the paper�that provides a good amount of tension.

The paper on the bottom horizontal tube is a tube of wrapping paper(has printed reindeer). I need to re-route the paper to go over the top middle tube, then the bottom middle tube then over the top tube. I have a piece of a yard stick screwed in the top tube. I run the paper tail through the gap between the yardstick and the top tube. I think some foam tape on the tube or on the yard stick will provide the necessary friction (currently works well with no foam tape, just want to make it a little better).
I might make the horizontal tubes a little wider (2-3 more inches)and add a similar yardstick setup on the top middle tube. This will give good tension than can be adjusted by the screws holding the yardstick in place.

Yep, that'll work. I may do that improvement tomorrow.
