Just north of Birmingham northbound on I-65. The back Trooper was a SUV; the front your typical SP cruiser. Lights and sirens on going 72-ish.

In between? Four very large Southeastern Motor Coach tour-type buses. Took up a good quarter mile of road in the leftmost lane (3-4 lanes total at that location). No one was willing to pass them so I did. Made driving very comfortable: They held back traffic behind us and people in front were going +75, so there was lots of room in the "shadow" they created. When was the last time you drove I-65 during the day and had no traffic +/- quarter mile front and back?

Why in the Sports subforum? I theorized that it was the Roll Tide football team on their way to their MS game this Saturday. But got home and now I see that it's an AL home game this Sat.; so doubt it was them.

Any other ideas? HS team, another college/university team; USMS ConBus? I barely outran them all the way north of Hartselle.

They would be lost if they were going from Tuscaloosa to Starkville.

I think it would be too early for a Saturday game.

I see that UAB (University of Alabama-Birmingham) plays at Western Kentucky tomorrow (Friday night) so that could be a possibility.

I was driving through New Mexico one time around midnight doing about 85mph.
Headlights are flying up behind me. Four black suburbans a semi truck pulling a trailer that looked close to 100' long with at least a dozen axles under then four more black suburbans behind it. I always wondered what it was hauling

That would likely depend on which highway and what direction you were headed.

I bet that was it. Thanks for the info!

Question that should be ask is:
1: what were you drinking?
2: what was you smoking?

You are doing 85 and not only was you passed, but he caught up with you out of nowhere and passed you and left you.
Was you hit by an UFO and time stood still? Or you were caught in a time warp and the twilight. Either way, you my friend should be checked out for anal probed. 😂 😆

Just joking around with you 🤣

I was thinking kids racing at first as fast as they were going…. A lot of reservations on that stretch. They have probably hit a few drunk Indians on that road

I know going to the game yesterday we were stuck on 65 right at the state line for almost an hour.
All because it went to one lane for a bit.
I will never understand that.
