just couldnt stay inside anymore lol. I got a Sumtoy .670 choke to try out from William as well as i wanted to try some hevi #6 and Hevi #7. I shot the IC last year with good numbers (244 at 40yds) but didnt seem to do so well this year, however i did shoot it last with only bore snaking my barrel between each shots.

numbers will be plus or minus a few as i had a crappy 10"circle to use that i could not see though so it was a real guess to get the most in each circle.

Temp = 58degrees
Wind = 10-15 south wind (i was shooting North so the wind behind me)
shot from a led sled and bore snaked after each shot.

not bad results but could use some input on the actual pattern. The IC was shooting much lower POI then the Sumtoy but that is easily fixed, just wasnt worried about it at the moment

now the IC choke in a 665, this one shot much better last year but maybe the temps and dirty gun had more to do with it

Yeah the #6's I was not impressed with but still kill able numbers. I didn't have time to shoot the mag blends but hope to the next warm day.

I am torn on whether to try a smaller construction only because 250 is plenty for me and not sure if I want it much tighter then that but I may have Willaim send me another with around a 655 to try.

Well spoke to William over at Sumtoy and he is sending me a 650 to try out, just to see what the difference is.

man if you are looking for a new choke i highly recommend you call William over at sumtoy...he started by sending me a 670 and was happy to answer any questions i had, i sent him the pattern pics and he said he is sending me a 650 just to see if it does better or worse and for me to just send back the one i dont intend to use. Pretty awesome customer service without questions.

#7 are deadly at much further then you would think. there are some pics of a few different birds over on Oldgobbler that where shot at 50 and 60 yards and the damage it caused was pretty amazing.

I have personally witnessed a few around 40 and 2 over that and they didnt stand a chance.

REALLY DEAD!

I look at patterning a gun no different then archery shooting. I want to maximize the equipment i have and have full confidence in what my gun can do at certain ranges and conditions. I want to know exactly what it does at 40, 30, 20 and 10 so i have full confidence in the shot i will take.

If my trying a few different loads or chokes help maximize that i see no issues in doing it especially when it really does not cost a bunch of money in doing so.

also IMO it is actually fun to go out and try different stuff and shoot. By April i will without doubt have a set up that i know without question will work with the style i hunt and confidence in hunting is 80% of shooting.
