the first was a little iffie

Keep in mind the scope is zeroed now and the 10" circle would be centered around his head. The 3.5" 6's do throw a better pattern. My son shoots the 3" Magblends and by the time he runs out he will be ready for 3.5" shoulder killers.

AHH I see, I meant that the patterns are great.
now I can't wait to see the turkey r/t to it.

The second pic looks perfect.......Never understood why anyone would set their sights high for turkey hunting but I see some of the hunters on here do. There is nothing but air over the head of a turkey.

Some do it so when there shooting at farther distance and the pellets drop they will still be in the head and not in the body.

I wasn't arguing that the first one was as good as the other two. Just pointing out if the circle was centered as it is now it would look better.

I enjoy experimenting and counting holes. Wish these dang Hevis weren't so pricey!

I used to shoot the HTL in my 20 gauge but 4 and 5 dollars a shell is stupid, no matter how good the pattern is. I switched this year to federal turkey thug #5 lead, and i get 109 pellets in a 10 inch circle at 35 yards, dead turkey all day!!!!!!

I can buy enough Hevishot to last all year for the price of half a tank of gas. When I look at the price of shells compared to gas, the cost of my lease, $150 sportsman license, etc., etc., etc., the shells are the cheapest part of my season.

I shoot mine to be a tad high at 40...i do so because i don't aim at the head i aim at the base of the neck OR half way up the neck. If I'm low shooting then i don't blow out the breast and if I'm a tad high i blow up the head...just has always worked for me.

When i say tad i mean .5 to 1" high at the most.

just curious why you think it is stupid? granted lead can and will kill them to. but just curious why you say that.

. Easy killer. Lots of people here shooting $4, $5, $8 shells.

To each his own. I think it depends on what you want to spend your money on, or your money limits. Myself, I have four kids and a wifey. Doesnt matter if I want to or not. I that's where my money goes to.

No doubt that there are priorities that might supersede top-of-the-line turkey shells. But to say it's "stupid" is debatable. By that logic it's stupid to use an expensive gun -- an old single shot NE will kill them just as dead. It's stupid to use an expensive scope. Steel sights worked fine for hundreds of years. It's stupid to shoot carbon arrows from a compound bows. None of these things are necessary, but many many people use them because they are fun to use.

I guess setting your sights a little high is like some people setting their watch 10 minutes fast. My brain does't work that way, I set my sights so the POI will be the same as the POA. BTW, I don't recall ever shooting too low at a bird but have missed a few by shooting over them because I didn't get a good contact with the stock. Solved that problem by putting a Trijicon (sp) RX30 on my shotgun. Good luck.
