I'm on the fence on this. To me, they are getting paid something that 98% of the college kids aren't gettinga completely paid tuition, room/board and meal costs! However, I have no problem paying them a small amount so they can enjoy their college experience. I'm not talking $5,000 a monthmore like minimum wage, or maybe slightly higher. That way they can go on a date, buy something they want or pay expenses that aren't included in their tuition. That I believe is fair, considering the fact that the college they play for is making millions off of their performance. For at least 1/3 of the year a football/basketball player has no life outside of their sportthey practice, attend class, do homework, watch film, attend meetings, conditioning, etc..., so a college athlete holding down meaningful employment is practically impossible.

I was shocked by these results. :o

I'm actually not too surprised by those results. We in the South, are far more passionate about our football, and I think we have a better understanding of the overall game and all that goes with it. Also, I will bet the SEC schools, as a conference, make far more money from athletics as similar conferences and most that I've talked to believe that players should be compensated in some small way outside of a free education.

Yes, I agree. SEC football should secede from the NCAA, pay the players a full salary, scrap the grade requirements and the joke college majors that exist for football players, make the whole academics/education piece optional, and basically turn it into a semi-pro league that has about 16 to 20 teams with the best players from America's cities. However, there would need to be racial quotas so enough white kids could play to make it interesting.

Sure,I think college athlete's should be payed at least some.Maybe at least a couple hundred dollars a game for some spending money!!The schools are raking in millions on their athletes talent, not to mention sports gear endoresment in the millions at each school and what about the coaches making several millions a year.If it wasnt for the athletes there would not be cash cows for the university's!!
