Just go do it.Dang that is beautiful. I need to get out there in the near future. My dad and I always wanted to hunt together in Montana. I need to make plans as I am not getting younger!
I like this pic too. It's a pause in the moment, candid. This is probably the best pic I took on the whole trip! Thats the same buddy that killed in the pic I posted earlier, accompanied by another buddy of mine carrying the head, packing my deer out of that valley. View attachment 262778

Our God sure knows how to create beautiful scenery. It does not hurt that you are great at taking photos. So majestic!!!One more pic from that trip. My pastor, a young man with a wife and 2 small kids, resigned from pastoring just before I left on this trip. He wants to go to Montana and start a Freewill Baptist church and congregation out there. I sent him this pic and told him I had found him a church! Its actually an old school house thats 40 miles from the nearest town but I think I can get it for him if he wants it! Well if youre an old Tnturkey member like me and him, thats swamper, aka Jimmy. Is the guy holding the head who I think it is?
Ive seen a few like that where I go, but its always at 5 am or 7pm, 20 miles from public land, in the road or private pastures between where I can hunt and town. Here is an oldie but good one for thinking about bucks in Wyoming. Having hunted in Montana most of my life it's getting tougher to find "shooter" bucks. 25 years ago it was about 1 out of every 20 to 25 bucks would be a shooter. In my youth, it was 1 out of 15. Today, in eastern Montana it is probably 1 out of every 40 to 50 bucks if you can find one. The guides and outfitters I talked to had a rough 2024 and 2025 doesn't look promising for big Montana mule deer I haven't seen a shooter muley in a couple of years. Enjoy this!
