took out fishboy and his wife last Sat for some fall turkey. i have a group of 35 gobblers i have seen multiple times at the same basic time going down the same road since the beginning of archery. Also have a small group of hens that are usually right behind them on the same path.

Daves wife has never killed one and he wanted to get her one so i said yeah man come on i got the perfect spot. Long story short they did exactly what they always do and at the exact time but had them in the wrong tree and they got within 6ft of me before getting sketchy and walking away.

my point is in the fall where i hunt you can almost set your watch by them and unless the weather or something is very different that morning they will be there. I had my gun sat but for the life of me just didnt really have any urge to shoot one. IMO where i hunt it is just so easy to kill some its just not something i really care to do. Now with a bow or something while deer hunting may be a different story just because getting the bow back without getting caught is a challenge in itself. no disrespect to those that do it or love it but man its just not for me....if he aint callable or strutting i just dont really want to mess with it lol

I see what you are saying. Less sport in fall hunting for sure.

But the reason I like it, is because I am hunting for meat. I want as much in the freezer as I can kill before the 28th is over. Still haven't killed one, going out in the AM to hunt with TurkeyBurd and hopefully get one.

dont get me wrong i still will go out from time to time and do it but may It just doesnt get me going like spring.
I know what you mean... I've only made it through one spring season myself, but there's nothing like the first gobble at dawn... I get fired up cause I want to shoot for meat like I said above. Hey if you have some birds that you can easily kill but don't want to, I'm available this week to shoot birds.... ;)

Easier or harder doesn't matter to me. It's just not the same without them gobbling their fool heads off like they do in the spring. If I want to sit and wait on them I'll go deer hunt. Just not my cup of tea.
Oh yeah there is nothing like the gobble... don't make me think of it, there's a whole deer season and an empty space between now and spring season. But I have to say I am happy with the outcome of my fall season, and got plenty of tender hen meat, which is just what I wanted.
