Mrs. TAFKAP has begun dabbling in the voodoo of baking.....lately, her thing is to make a PIECAKEN. Sort of like a turducken....but a pie, in a cake. It's not been documented yet, but it's usually a fruit pie of some sort, baked into a flourless chocolate cake, with chocolate icing. Well tonight, was a bit different.

Apple pie, in a spice cake, with caramel icing one half, and cream cheese icing other half. No recipe, as I just watched it all unfold.

THE PIE, with butter crust...then let it cool

Sink that pie into and cover with cake batter

I made one in a Dutch Oven with yellow Cake and Peach Pie. It was good, but I think next time it will be Chocolate Cake and Cherry Pie.

Our favorite one is when she makes a berry pie with a flourless chocolate cake. It's more rich and fudgy, and it works better than a typical "cakey" cake. I'll see if she can send the recipe.

Trick #1: Use a springform cake pan, and a cake batter that's thick enough to not run between the cracks.

Trick #2: Make sure your pie plate is small enough to make a pie that'll fit inside the springform pan, with room around for cake batter.
