For discussion: when do you typically hunt and what time of day have you killed more 3.5+ year old bucks.

For me, I see more bucks in afternoons by far although I hunt both mornings and evenings.

Hmmm, I voted afternoon because I think I've killed most and biggest in the evenings. But only barely, and my most intense hunts have been mornings. I have rarely seen chasing or sparring or intense scraping or rubbing in evenings. Almost every big buck I've killed in the evening was on a mission cruising. Almost every morning buck was while he was being in some way belligerent.

Very interesting observation. Honestly, I agree with what you describe also. Only time I've seen sparring was in the morning (wife actually rattled in a couple younger bucks). Just exactly like you say, the bucks I've seen or killed in the afternoons have all been walking with intent.

Thanks for your input, @Ski!

Honestly I am split 50/50 between morning and evening.
Not that I have killed that many mature deer. LOL

I couldn't vote cause we are pretty much 50/50 with only one being between 10:00-2:00 (midday). I will say this past weekend AM won for us dominantly. But the later season bucks we normally kill in the afternoon.

Honestly I have seen most mature bucks between 9-11am. Or last 30 minutes in afternoon.
