I'm sure most of you have seen the news story about a father falling out of his canoe on Priest Saturday. The wind was awful that day and the water is still cold enough that hypothermia is a risk. He was last seen trying to put his PFD on AFTER he fell in. Last I heard, he has not been found yet so it sounds like he drowned.
We have a few kayak/canoe anglers in here and I really hope you are wearing your PFDs, not just sitting them inside your plastic vessel. There are some situations when I don't wear mine like when I'm fishing a 5 foot deep pond in the Summer. If I fall out I'll be just fine. But on an extremely windy day, I'd never be in my kayak in the first place, but if I was the PFD stays on. Especially when the water is still cold. I don't care how uncomfortable it is, it can save your life. I pray for this man's family as they get through a very sad time in their lives.
