Presidents island thread got me to wondering what you guys would say is a "must do" hunt for a bowhunter. Factor in finances, wait to be drawn, overcrowding with hunters, alignment with rut, etc. What were some of your favorite experiences?

Way back (early 1980's for me) Land Between the Lakes was a great bow hunt in early November. Saw a lot of deer back then. Saw some great bucks, killed a few small bucks, 4, 5 and 6 pointers.
Back then TVA managed it. I thought they did a good job of it. Lots of food plots.
But, I haven't hunted it (or even driven through it) in several, several years. Don't know what it's like now.

Chuck Swan [Central peninsula back then] in the late 60's early 70's. The place was over run with deer although they were on the small side. It wasn't unusual to see 15-20 deer each sit. Archery was no quota but the first 2 days were Buck only. X bows weren't legal, it was recurve or long bow only.
They closed the gate at night and everyone would park their vehicles in line overnight. When they opened the gate in the morning it was like the Indy 500 lol.

Good question. I've not participated in any of the TN special hunts.
You didn't put TN hunts, so i would say IA & OH as two great places to bowhunt.
No idea. I hunted laurel hill in the late 1980s and it was a beautiful spot

I would do some deep research. No one on here can tell you anything more than they know/want you to know. I start by looking at boone and crockett registry maps, deer density maps, and old forum/Facebook posts about individual hunting areas.

Kentucky's last week of archery season before rifle opens... roughly November 5-10 can be incredible if the weather cooperates.
Gotcha. In that case, things I look at are bag limits, season dates, and ease of getting a tag. I really like one buck states with short gun seasons that don't coincide with rut, and even better if the tag is over counter.
I'd look at Oklahoma and Kansas.
