Has anyone ever done it? I know they have high heat powder coat but will it withstand full auto if the barrel is coated? Are there other alternatives to powder coating where bright colors are available. I'm not sure what color I want to make it but not black blue or camo.

I wouldn't PC it.... the coating will mess with the tolerances.... which could in turn hamper switching out parts or assembly/breakdown for cleaning purposes. If you want it colored, look into dura-coat or cerakote finishes.

I think you can have them anodized in different colors if you want a mil-spec coating. Grizzly is right about the powder coating. I think that would be way to thick of a coating.

Go with cerakote. It will hold up to full auto fire (not sure why that matters). The closest applicator to you was uselton but since they tanked, there's not any place within driving distance.

I am new to ar's and full auto weapons but I'm sure the barrel gets significantly more heat build up when shooting full auto vs semi auto. It could be different with cerakote but any other coating I have ever seen heat is the enemy.
