Hey yall. I picked up a .444 Marlin a few days ago and Im in the process of working up a good load for it. Problem is...Ive got some H4198 that I was going to use...but all my loading manuals call for IMR4198. Arent these the same powder just made by different companies? Just thought I would ask before I load up a few. ;)

the 09 hodgdon manual has loads listed for h4198 for pretty much all bullet styles and weights. it looks like imr is a little hotter, its loaded with 2.2 grain less in sierra jhp 240gr with 2k cup more in press.

Thanks yall. I got in the Hodgdon manual and found some loads for it. Might as well use it since Ive got it. Is hard to believe how hard powder is to come by here lately!! Im about out of L. rifle primers too dang it. Theyre gettin as hard to find as hens teeth now too!

Yes what DA said there are diferences , and never substitute on for the other as pressures could get out of hand. Be safe heep all your fingers and eyes .
