Practicing with broadhead?

I'm new to crossbows, having shot traditional box in the past.

Question: How do you practice with a broadhead, espicially a Rage?
My field points are shooting fantastic (same weight as Rage), shooting incredibly tight groups. But, I want some confidence in the accuracy of my hunting broadheads. I used to just use a dull 4 blade broadhead to practice with (you could pull them back out), but these expandables are quite different.
How do you remove the expandable from the bag(s) or block?
Any tips?

If you are shooting a rage, they have practice heads that dont deploy. Also, regular field points and the rage practice heads fly exactly the same in my experiance. So i would just shoot the field points or practice tips and put the rage on when you go hunt and you shouldn't have any problems.

shouldn't have any problems doesn't cut it for me. Before I hunt with a broadhead, I want to SEE how it flies at 20, 30, 40 yards from my set-up. I have never shot a rage so I haven't the clue on a suggestion for a suitable backstop. One of my backstops for my Slick Tricks is to pack a small box with some old denim fabric (jeans) coupled with some magazines. Of course, I have to unscrew my bh's rather than pulling them out whole, but I dont need many shots to check the point of impact. Just my 2 cents.

Ok, if you want to see how the broad head flies, get the practice tip. It's the same thing just doesn't deploy. It would be a waste to shoot the real broadhead.

It used to bother me also not knowing exactly where the broadheads would hit. So i spent the $30+ and dedicated 3 broadheads to target use. When shooting mechanicals or broadheads into a target block you can push it on thru the target if it went in deep enough and you think pulling it out will damage it.

I am sure the new mech heads are great, but it has been my experiance that no fixed blade broadhead ever flys the same as a field point.

I just experienced that today....I thought i would see how my fixed blade BH's flew today and my field points were dead on and i tried using the bh's and they were all over the map (target) :)

Depends on how well yer arrow/BH combo is tuned on the fixed BH. I shot a Rage 2 blade last yr one time as the blades deployed when i shot arrow sailed over the 8 pts back by about 6 or 7". I used the practice BH's one was close the other flew 4" high n to the right. The threaded shank was bent slightly i found it out ck'in the runout!

I have wondered about this happening.. how do you know they deployed?
