Has anyone on here ever done your own? If I'm fortunite enough to kill another one this year I'm going to try do a fan with feet and spurs mount myself. I've read about some stuff called "STOP-ROT" that sounds like it'll do what I want it to, but if anyone knows of something better I'm open to suggestions. :)

I've used borax on a couple fans and spurs alone, but haven't tried it on the entire leg with the spur and foot. Do you leave it in there for a few days and then spray it with some kind of sealer?

salt is really all you need. there is nothing much in a turkey leg but ligaments and cartilage. if you put a heavy coat of salt on them and let them sit for a while it will do fine. be sure to set the feet and leg how you want because when it dries you aint moving it.

thats what i do for a few of mine and they turned out fine (no smell ect..ect..)

Thanks for the info guys!

I think I'm just gonna go the borax route since I already have plenty of that in the garage. Then finish them with shilac once they're dried out good. Thanks again!

One of my wife's girl friends came over one evening and saw my turkey feet hanging on my gun safe as she walked by; almost had a heart attach, she said what is that as she was screaming and running out of the garage LOL. She couldn't believe we keep such ugly things.

She wasn't raised in or around the country I assume... :D
