Pretty good afternoon

My buddy and I left work today and hit a private lake.
We had a pretty good afternoon. LOL
This was the first fish he caught.
A 10 1/4" slab, his first TARP.


After a while I finally connected with this brute 10 1/2"


A few minutes later I connected with this fine 10 3/4"
My two biggest bream ever.

lol, those are definitely coppernose bluegill. very nice. people pay big money to fish for those in north carolina.

Yep that's what I was thinking too.

Holy smokes. Those are brutes. This private lake must be very well maintained. You really have to have everything perfect to grow them that size.

It is amazing for sure.
I fished there about 3 years ago and caught a tilapia on a cricket.
It weighed just over 3 pounds. It was a leftover from the ones he put in to feed the bass that survived a couple Winters.
He said I was the only person he had seen catch one of them. LOL

The shame of it all is that after draining the lake once to repair the levee that "slid" half way up, then draining it AGAIN and putting 4 semi trailer loads of clay on the levee and rebuilding it, it still only holds about half the depth that it should.

I would love to bass fish it but the rare occasions I get to fish it I am after the bream.

LOL I'm going again Wed afternoon, all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and probably a little while Sunday.
I gotta get some more in the freezer.
Good problem to have but the ones I have been catching have been too big to keep.
