Primer question

When you look up a recipe in your reloading manual and it lists the primer used do you actually have to use that exact primer or just a primer of that type? Like it list a CCI large rifle is it ok to use a Winchester large rifle? Might be a stupid question to you more experienced guys but what can I say, I'm a rookie.

when starting to work up a new load it doesnt matter,,but when you have a load you have worked up to max with and change primers,,you really need to back off a few grains and work back up with the new primer.
