I live in Sumner County (Hendersonville). I have a couple of private properties to hunt but there are a limited amount of birds and I would prefer to only kill 1-2 bird off of each. Therefore I'm curious about some public land.

Anyone hunt Yanahli and have any advice to offer?
Anyone hunt turkey in Old Hickory WMA (Units 1-3)?
Anyone hunt Gallatin Steam Plant WMA?

Any thoughts/tidbits are much appreciated.

Yanahli has birds but also hunters. You can find some good hunting early season but a lot of birds will be driven to surrounding private land.

I hunt old hick and priest with very good birds. Gallatin Steam plant has cut their wma from 1500 acres down to 250. There were lots of birds there too. And it is bow only.

I have never hunted either place, but I promise it would not be a waste of time if you went out and hunted those places. Hunting public land is a different experience and really humbles you, quickly.

Likely just like everywhere else, less pressure during the week.
