Yesterday AM before work, I set up on a gobbler I'd heard the previous evening. 10 minutes after fly down he was sneaking up on my hen, with another hen nearby. Well, the hen busted me while I was raising my barrel, lol! This was a pretty good bird. Well, 15 min. later (and cutting it close time wise to get ready to got to work), I hit the slate and from behind me I hear a gobble. Well, I had to turn around and get ready, this time with gun in hand, not calls. I was slightly shocked when this 15lb. shortbeard came in. Beautiful bird, but maybe 8 inch beard so I passed. He shyed away from my "ugly boy" decoy and went on his way. My brother says I need to have my head examined for letting him go, but I say he'll be much bigger next year. What say you? Am I crazy, lol?
