I have a man (22 yrs old) who wants to hunt this year. I've looked into the apprentice license for him for this first year as he would be only going with me. My question regards what I read about it on the TN gov site.

"In addition to the apprentice license, the hunter must have other applicable licenses and permits."

So, in order to hunt deer, would he need the apprentice, the basic hunt/fish combo, the big game rifle license, and the WMA permit? Or does the apprentice replace the basic hunt/fish combo license?

Thank for any clarification or information

He's got 10 days til ML opener, 3 weeks until BGG, plenty of time for him to work in an online course. The NRA course is free and does not require a field day, unless something has changed.
I'd do that. Then when he's able to hunt solo later in the season he would be able to.

The apprentice is only a substitute for not having hunter education certification. He would need a the basic hunting and fishing license as well as appropriate big game license.
You also have to be in position to take control of the hunting implement.
Thanks for the clarification. We would be setting up side by side for this first season.
Tell me you're not taking fish4bubba hunting with a firearm!!
i promise im not. Lol
