I am fletching some arrows for a friend who had the wraps on his gold tip arrows. I have stripped the old wrap off of the arrow very carefully and cleaned the arrows with alcohol. There is still a residue left from the wrap that the alcohol will not remove. It must be the adheisive. Anyway my fletchings will not bond to the arrow with this residue still on the arrow. Does anyone know what I should use to remove this without any risk of damage to the arrow. I have heard that acetone is not good for carbon. ???

a quick wipe with the actone will not hurt it but dont soak it. I have taken a fine steel wool pad and soak it with alcohol and scrubbed the sticky off lightly. careful,if it is a camo shaft, the steel wool will take the color off if rubbed hard.

I use Acetone on a paper towel or on 0000 steel wool. If your carbon arrow has a graphic image the Acetone will remove it. So use the soaked steel wool judiciously.

Remember to wipe the shaft with denatured alcohol after the Acetone to remove the white residue it leaves.
