Today we were shooting some 3-d targets at my house and I was watching everyones form. One thing I noticed on everyone that was shooting is that they all held their left arms(Right-Handed Shooters)different, What I mean is that some of them held them extremely straight with elbow locked, and then others held them with a slight elbow bend(More Relaxed)and then others had a more apparent bend almost like short arming them. I personally use a relaxed elbow but I was wondering want is the correct form for the left arm?

I put a little bend in my elbow! If you don't that, string will teach you to hold it straight!! LOL, It got me last Aug real good, and I still have a red mark on my arm from it!

Everyone is a little different. You can watch the pros at a big tournament and you'll see several different arm positions. I have my DL a bit shorter on my hunting bow so I can bend my arm some. That helps keeps my jacket sleeve out of the way.

I unlock my elbow with a slight bend in my arm . This works out well for hunting because I don't hit my jacket sleeve.

My bow arm has slight bend when shooting. If the string is hitting your arm during the off season with a short sleeve shirt on the draw length is most likely too long.
