I've got a mossberg maverick 88 and the mossberg website says a choke for mossberg 500 will fit the 88 is this so?

Based on my research, yes. From Cabelas "Choke Tube Interchange Comparison Chart":

I shoot a Undertaker out of my Mossberg 500 and it out pattern the Kicks Gobbling Thunder in my Stoeger. It is only a few pellets shy of my Indian Creek choke.
