Over the years, I've killed about half my birds between 10 am & 12 Noon,
and those tended to be the older birds.
Just going out and hunting a while early in the AM is forfeiting a lot of good opportunity.

. . . . went for a couple hours this morning but didn't hear a gobbler.
The last two birds I saw die (last week) were on a morning I didn't even hear a distant gobble on the roost, nor did I hear any gobbling at all. Nothing, zilch.
Yet, called up 3 different longbeards, all of which came in totally silent.
Left one for seed. (I had a hunting buddy with me, we each took one.)
Typically more exciting when you hear lots of gobbling and one will play with you, but I can tell you, it's also exciting when one comes up behind you and goes into full strut just a few feet beyond your arm's reach, working his way forward looking for that hen he heard, even if he is being silent. These didn't even drum --- totally silent. Amazing how they can pinpoint so close from where they heard those sounds.
And often, these mid-morning birds come in much slower than those early morning ones. Many times I'm convinced they went the other way, when suddenly they appear, right before I was ready to call it quits and move on.
Enjoy the whole day turkey hunting anytime you can.
A bad day turkey hunting beats a good day at work.
