Got a barnett predator (373fps crono) and it is loud.

Any suggestions on how to quiet it down for hunting?

#1 thing I have to do is figure out a way to remove and store the quiver while hunting.

Any other suggestions? Mods? The limbs are covered with some kind of rubbery coating.

Found the lost doe from yesterday. The entry/exit angle was quartering away on the carcass, when I shot she was slightly quartering to me so I think she jumped the string. Maybe quieting the bow down a little will help?

Getting the quiver off is a good start. Biggest noise/vibration maker on one is the foot stirup. Acts like a big ole tuning fork especially if its metal. Through the years we have taken soft rubber hose from an auto parts store and put around it and it helped. Draw back to an xbow, the faster and harder most shoot the more noise/vibration it makes. Could also try some of the small limbsaver accessory dampners.

I saw a show the other day and one of the points they made is that there is no bow fast enough to keep them from "jumping the string". I do agree though the quiver is a big source of noise! My pops like crazy when I shot it. The other thing is to make sure the stirrup bolts are snug. Mine seem to work loose and that causes noise as well.

One of the things the guy on the show did was use heavier arrows to help quiet it down.

Hope something helps you. I've missed one due to the noise this year already. I shot at his chest face on and he jumped to one side. There went $20 :D
