Quota Hunts?

I got drawed also. I had to work today and baseball tomorrow. Hope to hunt sunday. If i had not gotten drawed i would have nothing to do.

I was fortunate enough to purchase one of the leftover permits for that complex for the May 8-10 hunt. Hope you had good luck and I'd appreciate some follow up info on how your hunt went as I've never hunted those areas before. Thanks again??
 
the 2 spots i had picked out had been hunted all year by hunters not knowing the areas went to quota....didnt see a tom seen 3 hens in 4 hunts

Did Twra not patrol those areas??? And which WMA's were they??
 
Hell if I know what twra does...never seen em out there at obion river 10 yrs hunting it. Signs needed to been posted because I had half dozen people I know that had planned to hunt these area a week ahead of opener until I informed them that it was closed to quota this year.
 
Drew Tully and Chickasaw. Heard mulitple birds Thursday before last and killed a decent bird on Chickasaw and got on a pretty good bird Friday afternoon at Tully. Didn't hear a bird Saturday or Sunday their tho.

Which hunt did you have on Chickasaw??
 
Seen in the new proposals that they are doing away with all the quota hunting they enacted this year to a one bird per wma and all wmas closed until 3rd Saturday of spring turkey until the 6th Sunday of spring turkey

I saw this as well. IMO, west TN and SW TN have had for the last decade, and will continue to have for some time, the worst opportunities in the entire state for public land turkey hunting. IMO, if TWRA were to ever purchase more land in these areas, they should seriously consider purchasing land that is not flood prone, thus allowing for better chances of having a decent hatch year after year, and hopefully leading to more opportunity for turkey hunters on public land (SW TN). I talk to guys all the time who cry the blues about paying $150/year and repeatedly having nowhere to turkey hunt in SW TN. The middle TN and eastern TN hunters do not know how good they have it when it comes to having access to public land to turkey hunt on with sustainable turkey numbers year after year after year. You have no idea. I walked in with my thermacell on holding it my hand, and walked with it on in my hand. Once I sat down it wasn't bad. It kept them at bay. But once I shot and got away from it you would have thought I was in a glass case with a million of them. It was terrible.
