To those posters that swore up and down that Tennessee was going to get hammered by the NCAA because of nil. Now Tennessee is blatantly telling opposing fans "Thanks for paying our players with your ticket purchase."
A couple posters have seemed to disappear off Al Gore's internet.

I'm still here and will admit that I was wrong about whether they would escape penalty. The NCAA may as well not exist any longer and likely won't in the very near future for the large revenue generating sports in the Power 5. Not that I was ever a proponent of the NCAA but there is no use for them if the legal system has deemed that they can't enforce long standing rules. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If I had nothing better to do I would dig up some of those posts. 😅

Never had a doubt the ncaa would lose that. You can't limit what a grown adult can make and especially not on the side just because you are in "business" with them. It's about that simple. It was always illegal what they did to the athletes. That said it's absolutely hurt the college game. That plus letting them basically transfer all they want without penalty

They did it for decades, and penalized a lot of teams(heck most teams at some point).

And like I said it was always illegal but no one challenged them. Everyone was scared to go against the ncaa and rock the boat. The legal precedent that made it that way is decades old. It was an antitrust issue and when someone (UT) pushed it the ncaa backed down by their own lawyers advice because they knew they could not and never would have won.

I don't buy that. Virtually every team tried to fight sanctions leveled by the NCAA. Tennessee has even tried to fight them in the past. Things changed/evolved in the sport and TN happened to be under their microscope at the time with the right lawyers. Good for TN and good for high-profile players, but unfortunately, I think it is overall bad for the game.

It is bad for the game in my opinion too. As for you not buying it…I heard for a couple years or more if anyone pushed it then the ncaa had no legal standing. Schools had no big reason to push it before until the ncaa made it legal by their own bylaws for athletes to be able to receive it. They did that and left their rules ambiguous and decided to flex a little and go after a few schools to fine them and take more money in. People finally had enough of the boogie man and turned the lights on in the dark room. Also UT isn't who sued the ncaa. It was the state AG on behalf of all athletes in the state.

Its just a matter of time till the NCAA finds something else with a school that has been sanctioned in the past and deemed a cultural of cheating within the organization. It will happen again and when it does the NCAA will be there. For those that don't think the NCAA does not have the power look no further than the Michigan Scandal and what is fixing to go down with that.

Intelligent people recognize when they are wrong, admit it, and move on. Morons double down on stupid. The quote above is a classic example of a moron doubling down on stupid. Friends don't let friends be morons. Unfortunately, he has no friends.

You might be talking about alabama but the NCAA wants no part of TENNESSEE we put them in their place, and will do it again

It's KILLING the smaller schools.

I'm not a big Southern Miss fan, but want them to do well since they are the local team. They just can't afford to hire decent players, and if a sleeper develops, he will xfer out to a school with bigger pocketbooks. No way you are getting good xfers in the portal either, just can't afford the new pay to play mantra
