I've been reading through the web site OMG Facts that basically has a lot of weird fun facts that most people don't know.

Some of them are crazy.... such as ones like

-Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with ALS when he was 21. (he didn't have it before then)
-A dog has been trained to sniff out cancer with a 98% accuracy.

...and random stuff like that.

Well I came across one that I thought was funny....

"Only male turkeys gobble. Female turkeys make a gentler clucking or clicking noise."

Only us turkey people would be so familiar with it...I guess everyone else would find it surprising that only male turkeys gobble. Well that's why we call em gobblers isn't it?

Nothing like hearing a gobble during turkey season, the only thing I can compare it to is hearing your lucky numbers for the powerball with the correct powerball number and 4x multiplier

some hens can make a GOBBLE sound...it is not a true gobble but sounds A LOT like one. its pretty odd when you hear one!! just like seeing a hen in half stutt, just pisses you off lol

I've heard of hens strutting but not gobbling...I wonder if it has been caught on video, that would be interesting to see.

It has been caught on video. Its a meriams and one either the thruth 14 or thruth 15 can recall which one.

I have personally heard one before in TN...it was SUPER ODD to hear and was almost like a very bad jake gobble but shorter. once i finally figured out what was going on it was really neat to hear but for about 30mins i had no idea what to think or what in the world was going on. it was obvious it was not a mature gobbler though

I've had a hen spit and drum within 30 yards of me before, I've seen them gobble on videos but never experienced it myself.

VolDoug that's the weirdest thing I've seen....besides having a real funny sounding gobble and all...I wonder if it was a Justin Bieber hen or a hermaphroditic turkey? :D

I have heard hens "gobble", on more then one occasion. I have also seen them strut in the past, never drum I don't think they have the ability to drum but have seen them strut.
