I need to put some type of sight on my son's youth 870 20 gauge. He shoots a red dot on his deer rifle rather well and has killed 5 deer with it so far and only 7. This is what I am leaning towards but also know that there are some pretty good ghost ring sights out there too. I don't think that regular rifle sights will suit him right now at this age and considering that he is right handed, left eye dominant.

IMO a red dot is perfect for kids it really helps with quick aim and you don't have to worry as much about them getting down on the bead. Burris FF3 and EoTech are 2 of the best out there (I prefer the Burris between those 2 due to the size and how low you can mount it and price) but there are some others out there if you don't want to spend that kind of coin.

I put this one on my son's 20-gauge. Not the best pic but the sides are green fiber optics. It came with another piece but I didn't use it and left the one that came on the gun. Unfortunately I don't remember the name.

Burris or Eotech is money is not a concern. A few others that come to mind and also recommended quite a bit would be Bushnell Trs-25, Weaver Micro Dot, and Mueller Quickshot. These 3 sights are around the 100 dollar range. I have seen a lot of good reviews on the last 3 mentioned for that price point.

Have a b square mount on the way and have a Bushnell Trophy red dot that will work. It is the same brand that he uses on his 30-30. I also have a Truglo SSX choke and HW#7s to trial.

Thanks for the help!

Smart choice. All my youth guns have red dots but 1. I end up taking as many as 20 youth and at least 12 beginners every year. They are the ticket
