I have a Bushnell trs25 on my 20 gauge and the lens has a red/orange color to it (end of the barrel side) so turkeys coming in can see it. So my question is can turkeys notice this or has anyone noticed turkeys seeing it.

Is this actually something I need to worry about?

You know most folks will tell you no but I believe they have busted me because of the dot glare before...

I put my hand over sometimes when they are approaching but mainly just be be conscious of your setup and try to setup in shade...

I have been trying to do this but I'm also very green in the turkey woods and have noticed it. I've been hunting hilly and open hardwoods so I know my set ups aren't perfect but this was just a question I've had.

Yes they will spook birds. Try to set in the shade or with the sun to your back. I've tried making a homemade diffuser but no luck yet

I think they do see it.... the smaller sights (like a reflex fastfire or venom) are not as conspicuous as the larger red dots. I've never had one not come in from a distance, but I've had a few birds I'm convinced saw the sight and spooked when they were within 15 yards

IMO, the bigger issue is the sun reflecting off the glass, NOT the illuminated dot.

I have spooked birds when the sun reflected off my binoculars,
even though my only movement was subtly tracking a bird with those binoculars (and while being very well camouflaged).

Always try to set up with the sun to your back.

I can't say I've ever spooked a bird with either my Fastfire sight or a traditional scope,
but sure have more than once with binoculars.
