Going to red dot by shoulder breaker before turkey season. So....

What kind do you have?
How much was it? (don't want to break the bank)

Thanks

Wish they made a red dot that would fit in a normal ring. For my Ruger 96/44mag lever gun.

Buy a Burris Fast Fire II with the Marlin 336 mounting plate..... it will be the lowest setup on top of your gun.... around $200+ depending on where you buy from.

What does your rifle have on top as far as mounting a base or rings? Does it have the dovetail like the M77 MKII rifles that use the Ruger rings?

I am also considering one for my 835. I just don't know if I want to go back to one or not. They make, or did, a red dot that uses regular 1" rings don't they.

I personally don't like the tube type but that's just my own preference. If I was to get a tube type I would just get a scope instead.

I got the mueller quick shot for $100. Fine dot style and no tube. If I had the money I'd get a fast fire 3 or a speed beed but they ain't cheap.

I actually shot a Mossy 835 today that had the truglo red dot in the 1x30 mm, It belongs to a friend and it's been on his shotgun for three years now. I really liked the 5moa dot and I'm thinking about one for my 870. He bought his at Dicks for about 40 bucks. I've read good reviews and bad about that red dot. It seems to be more good than bad. I'm thinking about one seriously myself.

GRIZZ....mine has dovetail like the M77. They make after market weaver to mount on dovetail , but I think that would make it to high for my kids to drag threw the laurel thicket.Just think red dot would be great for low light shooting hogs

Jimmy, unless u just want to spend alotta money, I bought a center point from walmart just to try. The scope is 1x34mm red/green illuminated dot with variable brightness settings. It comes with flip open lens covers. Water proof, fog proof and shock proof.

Just wanted to let you know thats what I have on my 870, and it works fine.

Good luck on what ever you decide.
