red dots and 31/2 shells?

i would guess it depends on the site. I know a few guys that shoot them with no issues but they are shooting good sites like burris, high end truglo and mueller sites.

if you get a tube style red dot i guess the recoil could make it come back and smack you in the eye but most good site makers build them to take the shock of a turkey load.

I only shoot 3" shells with mine but never had an issue out of it. Have a good friend that shoots one out of a mossy with 3.5 shells and has been doing so for a few years with no issues. I think his is a truglo

I shot an EOTECH of all things last year on my .870 Supermag, and it lost zero after 6-7 shots (two missed birds later!!!) Double-checked bases, sent sight back to factory, and it is definitely the recoil was too much for the sight. This was with NITRO 3 in shells, which are hot loads. I put the 25 dollar fiber optic dovetail sights on, and went 4 for 4 the rest of the year. I will NEVER put a red-dot again on a shotgun. Can't trust them. I have put the EOTECH back on my Mini-14.

I have a 20 dollar bsa red dot scope on my 870 super mag. Been on there for years. I have not had any problem shooting 3.5 loads. Never been off 0. knock on wood. Best 20 bucks i have invested.
