Are there certain releases made for string loops? I have a redhead dual caliper release and it seems to eat up a string loop real quick. After about a month of good shooting it will wear a loop out. I was looking in to getting a new release and was wondering if there were certain releases made specifically for string loops?

Thanks

I wouldn't figure there would be a problem using that release with a loop. Does it open up easy when you pull the trigger? Is one of the edges rough? Also, what kind of loop material are you using?

My fingers work real good with a compound bow or a recurve and no loop is needed that way . BUT it takes practice to learn how to release an arrow with fingers....

Well I Don't see anything wrong with the release. The loop material I am using came with a set of strings I ordered so I am not sure what it is. But I have also had loops tied on at the archery shop and it has eat them up.

Are you supposed to wax the loop?

Maybe it is fine and I just think they are eat up. Is it normal for one to become frayed and rough looking?

What speed bow and ATA are you shooting Locksley? Im not saying it cant be done but the short quick bows today it is dang near impossible. Chuck Adams still shoots a slower longer bow for this reason.

I promote single jaw calipers for most people. Single jaw makes sure the rope comes out the same way each time and reduces inconsistencies.

Loops should be replaced once a year at least...mine usually make it about till hunting season then I have to replace!!! The PSE loops (white and pre cut) are best Ive found for consistency and smaller diameter which helps with durability. I hate the thick camo colored ones that BPS sells.

I use the same type and I have never had a problem...With that said there has to be something out of whack...Check for spurs on the jaws...use a cotton swab, and see if it leaves any cotton on the jaws of the release...My string loop has been on my bow for 4 years and I use a high poundage 67 lbs...
