release question?

I dropped mine once, and took a shot without it. Think it shot about 2' left and low.

Are you asking about the caliper type?
As in the way it releases mechaniaclly?

I don't know, but I had to buy 4 to find the one that works best for me by far.

Tru Fire 360 elite. It has everything I wanted from the strap and buckle to the rotating ratchet extension, to the trigger.

Does a release affect accuracy any?

Yes.

99 of 100 archers will see increased accuracy switching from fingers, if that's what your asking.

I agree with pjridge.

I think release type also affects accuracy. I anticipate the shot when I use a trigger release for competition, but don't (not as much anyway) when I use a hinge release. So yeah, my accuracy is not as good when shooting with a trigger.

I hunt with a trigger, but that's a different setup and different shot routine. I don't seem to anticipate the shot as bad with my hunting setup...go figure.

Im talking about the type of trigger release you use.Like different brands and makes.Sorry for the confusion.Im a total noob when it comes to bows.Thats why im askin!

Yes , because some wrist strap designs can cause string torque if they don't rotate freely when at anchor .
I like a Scott Little Bitty Goose with a cord that allows the head of the release the flexibility to accommodate any type of gloves that are worn while hunting without affecting accuracy .

I had a Scott Wildcat, but I shoot better with the Tru-Fire,because if it's trigger. I make better shots with this trigger. It's also the only release i can shoot wearing gloves.

Very good advice.

A torque free release or one that rotates 360 is a good idea as stated above. Types and release brand is a personal preference. Some folks use different style/types for different circumstances (hunting vs competition) such as Jaymac stated. If you can find some buddies with different types, try them out. Most pro shops will let you try any of them.
Are some more accurate than others? Yea. Some have more forgiving designs, but the most accurate one for you will be the one that feels the best to you.

Good luck and enjoy archery.

Back in the day, over 20 yrs ago, I used a "T" shape release. Had a two finger and a three finger, both worked well. A few yrs ago I switched to a Tru-Fire wrist release and added a string loop.

Wow, what a difference. I had less fatigue in my hand and better holding power from the wrist strap by using my entire arm to hold the string back, the loop helped by centering the pull directly behind the arrow.

Mine is adj. in length to customize my nock point, which my early days ones did not.

fulldraw. You have the Trufire 360 Elite. The one with the wriststrap that unbuckles, but the elastic section and the large yellow rubber tip keeps it from falling off your wrist?

I have that one,and is All I use now.
The shaft is a soft ratchet to help the claw stay in position?

Ok Not the 360 Elite I shoot.
I know the T type you were using. I thought a lot of target shooters used these, and is not used much for hunting.

Pulling with the arm using a wrist release is a lot easier and smoother to draw IMO. Easier to hold at full draw. Letting down is also a lot easier.

I shoot with a QAD Pro,and if you let down, the rest stays up,and keeps the arrow fully contained.
The combo of this realease and rest work well together.
My Drenalin is only 60# limbs.
I give up some speed, but so far I have been able to delay shoulder surgery. I still kill game, and got a psssthrough earlier this season shooting a Grimm Reaper Razorcut.
A lot of broadhead to go through, cutting a huge hole.
I shoot Carbon Express Maxima's with 2' blazers.

I use a Wynns glove type release. David J told me about it some years back. Best realease I have ever had!!! Velcros on like a glove and the trigger just naturally falls into place as you draw the bow.

I have that release. It works well, but the trigger fires if it's just touched.
Too sensitive for my hunting.
