other than brass, primers, powder, and bullets, what else do i need or do you suggest?
I've have blown my budget (merry christmas to me) for this so the rest will have to wait a month or so. mostly going for precision .308 stuff.

I know i need a brass cleaner of some sort (suggestions?) but all this stuff is now on order from midway. some of it really isn't needed but after playing with a buddies i liked the hornady lock n load bushing setup in his redding press. i'd ask him this stuff but he's more into just popping out rounds than going into detail.

I prefer a digital scale to a bar scale.
i sort of figured a digital would end up on the want list. the bar scale that comes with the kit will have to do for a while. splurged on this stuff mostly cause the press was on sale and $50 mail in rebate.

any digital scale recommendations?
also mid way was backordered on the possum hollow primer pocket uniformer. any recomendations on one of those?

I use the Hornady GS1500 I think it is....32 bucks I paid for it and works as good as some I have used that cost hundreds.

Balance scale is more sensitive.

I don;t know that you "need" brass cleaner. I've been reloading for over 10 years and don't have one. I only reload for hunting and practicing, though, so I only load a hundred or so rounds for each of three calibers.

Manuals. I like to have at least two reliable sources before developing a load.
A few ammo cases would be handy too.
A micrometer is pretty important.
The list is never ending but i bet you will love it.
Best of luck and stay safe,

Lee Dippers or Measures they are very usefull esp when weighing charges which I prefer to do most of the time and load work ups.

Pact makes a good digtal scale and powder dispensor.

SS dial calipers... though they may be included in the kit. I like the old fashioned balance beam powder scale better than the digital, but that is because I tend to be anti-tech on many things from a reliability standpoint (I don't like power windows or doorlocks on vehicles either).

I would suggest;
1. SS Dial Caliper, if nothing else YOU need these!
2. Digital Scales
3. Nosler's #6 Manual or Hornady's 8th Edition which is new and has data for all the new powders.
4. Kinetic Bullet Puller
5. Pro Chrono Digital Chronograph

got a couple books but need to get newer. i think a speer or seirra book comes with the kit.
adding a micrometer to the list my neighbor tried to sell me one a couple a while back he was a machinist. have to see if he still has them

Scale check weights if not in that kit.

good thinking. i have no idea if they come in the kit so i'll hold hold off to see.

UPS tracking says the big order should show up today. WOOO HOOO

o ya! got it all set up today. just waiting on bullets now. went on and got 20 once fired hornady match brass sized, trimmed, chamfered, and primed. lookes like the bullets won't show till monday. probably do the rest of the brass i've been saving up over the weekend.

already broke the oal gauge trying to rethread it to a common size tap n die i already had so i could use one of my cases. sometimes that stupid diy tinkering bug gets the best of me.

when the bullets show i'll put up some pics.

Know what you mean.

If I recall right those are 5/16x32 I never have located a "good" tap yet the one I did get gave to me still didn't allow my case to fit right, buggered up thread somewhere.
